Introduction to Foundations

The two-week Board & Train introduces dogs to foundation-focused, obedience training concepts. New behaviors are taught using positive reinforcement to build motivation, trust, and enthusiasm for work. We establish easy skills such as name recognition, targeting and eye contact so dogs learn the basics of engagement. We create a clear marker system so dogs understand exactly when their behavior earns reinforcement. We use play to help strengthen relationship and interaction. We teach luring to help dogs maintain concentration and move with intention. We teach dogs how to yield to leash pressure in order to build resilience and responsiveness to leash communication. We practice basic obedience skills such as sit, down, and wait to strengthen motor skills. We introduce placement training and tethering so dogs learn to settle with independence.

Once the program is completed owners receive a single one hour transfer training session. This session reviews techniques, practices routines, and reinforcement strategies so owners can confidently maintain and build on the foundations their dog learned. Ongoing guidance via text and email is provided and access to book private training sessions becomes available.

Intermediate Concepts

The Intermediate Concepts board and train service improves the core skills introduced in the Introductions to Foundations board and train. In this program we enhance the level of communication by pairing behaviors with conditioned visual and verbal cues. We expand upon marker systems, introducing multiple marker words to develop location specific reinforcement and the corresponding reward. We develop cooperation using structured rules of play, teaching dogs how to appropriately access toys using calm, intentional behavior. We concentrate heavily on building loose leash walking skills, recall and ability to work around others and an increasing level of distraction. We continue to rehearse obedience and gain solid generalization skills.

This program offers two, one hour transfer sessions scheduled during the middle and end of the program. The same owner support described above is provided for owners who choose this program.

Advanced Training Concepts

The Advanced Training Concepts board and train option is best suited for those who want a performance focused program. Whether you’re looking for polished obedience or you are pursuing dog sports, this program covers all of the material in the previous two options. We hone in on teaching work readiness, equipment associations, delayed reinforcement, increasing distractions and exposure to busier locations. We create goal oriented lesson plans that prepare your dog for start line behaviors, precise positioning and proofing routines. We harness arousal and channel it into controlled and purposeful operation. We take your dog’s natural drive and working aptitude and optimize it for functional performance.

Owners will receive three, one hour transfer sessions at the beginning, middle and end of the program.

Day Training Adventures

$115 per day- 10 day minimum $1,150.00

Day Training Adventures is a Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm*, supplemental training and exercise service for busy owners who want to maintain ongoing training gains, and provide their dogs with daily, satisfying outlets. The program is ideal for working breeds, sporting dogs, and any high energy companion dogs who have established basic training skills. The training dogs receive in this program, help them rehearse known skills such as recall, loose-leash walking, engagement, reliable place or settle, and working through distractions. These outlets reduce frustration and channel drive into constructive behavior, improving home life, handler responsiveness, and overall well being. Dogs return home in a calmer state, and owners continue pursuing their personal training goals.
